Ty Ziegel is a former United States Marine who gained national attention in 2007 for his remarkable recovery after being severely injured in Iraq. In 2004, Ziegel was serving in Fallujah when his vehicle was hit by a suicide bomber, resulting in severe burns to over 60% of his body, the loss of his left hand, and numerous other injuries.
Despite his injuries, Ziegel underwent multiple surgeries and intensive rehabilitation to recover. His resilience and positive attitude throughout his recovery inspired many, and his story was featured in media outlets across the country.
In 2007, Ziegel married his high school sweetheart, Renee Kline, in a ceremony that was widely covered by the media. The couple's story was also the subject of a documentary titled "Rebirth: The Journey of Ty", which followed their journey from the aftermath of the attack to their wedding day.
